시공간 그리고 숨
오래된 물건이나 사진을 통한 과거 어느 순간과의 낯 선 조우는 시간의 흐름에 대해 인식하게 한다.
과거를 기억하는 그 순간은 새로운 현재가 되고, 미래 또한 현재 사고의 유희 속에 있다.
영원히 반복되는 현재라는 시간의 의미에 대해 생각해 본다.
인간에 의해 만들어진 ‘시간’이라는 질서와 기준에 의존해서 생활하지만
실제로 시간은 볼 수도 만질 수도 없다. 그저 흐른다는 느낌을 가지고 살아갈 뿐이다.
우리는 자연에서 나서 그 안에서 숨 쉬며 산다.
산책길에서의 이름조차 알 수 없는 풀과 나뭇잎, 한 순간도 멈추지 않는 몸짓으로 어디론가 향해가는 구름
그리고 사랑스럽게 말을 걸어오는 작은 새의 숨과 다르지 않다.
나는 어떤 숨을 쉬며 살고 있을까? 늘 긴장 속에 바쁘게 시간을 보내며 제대로 숨 쉬는 법을 잊고 사는 건 아닐까?
잠시 시간을 멈추고 크게 숨을 쉬어 지금 나 자신의 내면과 마주해 본다.
삶은 생각 보다 가벼울지도 모른다.
영원한 현재를 잠시 머물다 가는 우리 삶에 쉬는 시간을 만들고자 한다.
무한한 시공간을 시각화하기 위해 시작과 끝 또는 안과 밖의 지점이 모호하거나 혼재된 구조로 공간을 만들었다.
그 안에 유한한 삶을 반복적으로 살아가는 존재의 표상으로 주변에서 볼 수 있는 자연의 흔적을 담았다.
Spacetime & Breath
An unfamiliar encounter with an moment from the past through old objects or photos makes us aware of the passage of time. Once we remember the past it becomes the new present, and also the future also is inside the present play of thoughts.
Think about the meaning of time called the everlastingly repeating present. Our everyday life relies the on rules and standards of 'time' made by humans, but we can't see nor touch it. We just live with the feeling of time passing by.
We are born in nature and breathe in nature. It's not different with leaves and grasses which we dont know the names of in the paths, clouds heading to somewhere without stopping, and adorable talks from little bird's breathe.
What kind of air are we breathing? Maybe we forgot how to breathe properly in these tense and busy times. Stop the time for a moment, take a deep breathe and meet your inner self. Perhaps life is lighter than expected.
I'm making a time for a break in our lives that stays in the eternal present for a while. To visualize infinite space and time, I made places where the beginning and the end, or the inside and the outside are blurry or blended. Inside of it is the traces of nature that we can see around us as an emblem of existence repeatingly living its finite life.
